Born February 25 1977, Corinne Van Themsche started studying martial arts in 1983, aged 6. In 1990, she started practising aikido. In 2004, she founded the Shusetsukan dojo in which she was also a teacher. 2004 was also the year of her encounter with CHINEN Kenyu, with whom she studied Shorin Ryu Karate and Okinawa Kobudo.
At the same time, from 2004, she went to Japan on a yearly basis to study martial arts, first as an uchideshi under NEMOTO Hirouki. In 2007, her encounter with an other teacher was to be decisive. She decided to leave everything behind and went to live in Japan to go further into her research with him.
During her various trips to Japan, she also started to learn seitai.
Corinne Van Themsche has a degree in physical education, with a major in sports training (specialisation in fencing).
She also has a Bachelor of Science (ingénieur-maître) in human engineering. She conducted her research studies in posturology, from which she published an article.
